Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Twitter, has announced that he will be stepping down from the position in a few weeks. Musk made the announcement on Twitter, stating that he has hired a new CEO who will take over in approximately six weeks.

Although he did not reveal the identity of the new CEO, he did announce that he will be transitioning to the role of executive chair and CTO, overseeing product, software, and sysops. The news comes after the outgoing CEO announced an update to Twitter, allowing verified users to have early access to encrypted messaging services.

Musk also revealed that Twitter will be introducing voice and video chat in the coming days. Additionally, Twitter will be removing accounts with no activity for several years, causing some celebrities to lose their blue tick verification.

In response to this, Musk announced that Twitter will be launching a platform that allows media publishers to charge users on a per-article basis with one click.
