Foxconn, the Taiwanese multinational electronics giant, is all set to commence work on its manufacturing facility in Kongara Kalan, on the outskirts of the city of Hyderabad in Telangana. The industrial project is a massive investment of almost Rs 3,500 crore and is expected to create a new milestone in the industrial sector of the state. On Monday, the groundbreaking ceremony for the manufacturing plant will be conducted in the presence of Telangana IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao and Foxconn officials.
The state government has allocated 196 acres of land in Kongarakalan, adjacent to Ranga Reddy Collectorate, for the Foxconn project. The industries department officials, along with E.V. Narasimha Reddy, the managing director of the TS Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC), and Foxconn officials have made all necessary arrangements for the ceremony.
In March this year, Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and his team had a meeting with Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao at Pragathi Bhavan, following which an agreement was signed between Foxconn and the state government to set up an electronic manufacturing facility in Telangana. The facility is expected to generate employment for one lakh people in ten years. In a letter to the CM, Young Liu reiterated Foxconn’s commitment to setting up the manufacturing facility.
