Yami Gautam, the popular Indian actor, has been enjoying a string of successes on streaming platforms. Her latest performance in the suspense thriller “Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga” has been receiving rave reviews and has become the most viewed Indian film on Netflix within just two weeks of its premiere on March 24. This marks her fourth consecutive release on a streaming platform, following “A Thursday”, “Dasvi”, and “Lost”. However, despite her recent success, Gautam maintains that she does not discriminate between audiences or mediums and never signs a film with the consideration of whether it is for OTT or theatre.

Gautam believes that an audience is an audience, regardless of the medium. She states that she is thankful to have found an audience and does not want to be labeled in any particular way. She admits that she often receives comments like “so now you are the queen of OTT” or “now you are doing such roles,” but takes them with a pinch of salt, as she believes she has earned the trust of her audience.

Gautam asserts that her job as an actor is to entertain and engage the audience, regardless of the medium. She loves to dabble between both the mediums and would not limit herself to either. She acknowledges that her past theatrical releases, “Uri” and “Bala,” were successful and good films, and the audience has developed faith in her that if she is a part of a film, it must be something interesting.

“Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga,” directed by Ajay Singh, centers around Neha, an air hostess played by Gautam, and her businessman beau Ankit, played by Sunny Kaushal, who are on a mission to steal diamonds to free themselves from the clutches of a loan shark. The heist goes horribly wrong when the very plane carrying the diamonds is caught up in a hostage situation. Gautam describes playing the layered character of Neha as a “fun, heartbreaking, and emotional” experience.

Gautam’s upcoming releases include the action comedy “Dhoom Dhaam,” written and produced by her husband Aditya Dhar, the director of “Uri,” and the sequel to “Oh My God.” She has worked with Maddock Films in the past, and she hopes to continue collaborating with them. She credits the movie “Bala,” directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, as the film that “resurrected” her career.

Gautam’s outlook towards her career is refreshing as she prioritizes her craft and storytelling over the medium or platform. Her dedication to her work and her fans has earned her a place in the hearts of many. Her ability to play complex characters and captivate audiences has set her apart from the rest, and it will be exciting to see what she brings to the screen in her upcoming releases.
