Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Quantico’s actress, is responding to criticisms of her surrogacy. The 40-year-old actress shared her story with British Vogue about motherhood and being a mom to Malti Marie, her daughter, earlier this week.

The birth of Malti was announced by Nick Jonas and Chopra Jonas in a joint statement, which they shared on their respective social networks, according to ‘People magazine. Their surrogate baby was the subject of much criticism and commentary.

She told British Vogue that she has a hard time talking about herself because “people talk about me.” It’s very painful to hear about my daughter. “Keep her out of it,” I say.

She continued, “I remember what it was like to hold Malti’s little hands as they tried to find her veins,” referring to the fact that Malti was three months prematurely born. “So, no, she’s definitely not going to be gossip. This chapter in my life has been very important to me and my daughter. Because it’s more than my life. It’s also hers.”

According to ‘People, Chopra Jonas confirmed that she used a surrogate because it was medically necessary.

She explained that she had medical complications. “This was an important step and I’m so thankful I was able to do it. Our surrogate was kind, generous, funny, and took care of our precious gift for six months.

Chopra Jonas pointed out that her critics would not change their mind about her. You don’t know my past. You don’t have to believe what I’ve been through.
